SINGAPORE, Oct 13 — The Titans are coming to Marina Bay Sands, with Attack On Titan: The Musical set to make its South-east Asian debut at Sands Theatre on April 15, 2027.
The stage adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s hit Japanese manga will run until May 2, marking its first Asian engagement outside Japan.
Before Singapore, the show drew audiences in Osaka, Tokyo and New York City between 2023 and 2025.
Presented by Base Entertainment Asia, the production zooms in on the early chapters of the manga, which Isayama first published in 2009.
Those chapters follow humanity as it cowers from giant humanoid creatures known as Titans.
The franchise has since sprawled well beyond the page, spawning an anime series, a live-action film and miniseries, novels, manga spin-offs and video games.
On stage, the story unfolds in Japanese with English subtitles.
It is billed as a 2.5-dimensional musical, a Japanese genre that bridges the flat worlds of manga and anime with the real-life stage by blending live action, musical theatre and cutting-edge technology.
Steering the production is an all-Japanese creative team made up of director Go Ueki, writer Masafumi Hata, music supervisor Ken The 390 and lyricist Kaori Miura.
Fans can look forward to brand-new songs, along with a nod to the anime’s Season 1 opening theme, Guren No Yumiya.
In a press statement, Base Entertainment Asia chief executive Chantal Prudhomme called the show an “extraordinary leap from manga to the musical stage”.
She said it offers fans another way into a world they know well, gives newcomers to Japanese entertainment a window into an unfamiliar theatrical tradition, and lets musical theatre lovers discover a different style of storytelling.
Tickets are available through Marina Bay Sands Ticketing, Sistic and Klook, and the venue is at 10 Bayfront Avenue.
