Singapore national serviceman dies after being found unconscious at foot of Pulau Tekong building

SINGAPORE, Oct 8 — A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) full-time national serviceman (NSF) has died after he was found unconscious at the foot of a building at Basic Military Training School 3.

In a statement posted on Facebook at about 3.45pm today, the Ministry of Defence said the incident happened at about 1.22pm.

Mindef said the NSF was immediately conveyed to the Pulau Tekong Medical Centre for emergency treatment, and subsequently evacuated via helicopter to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

According to Mindef, the NSF arrived at SGH at 2.05pm and was pronounced dead at 2.27pm.

It added that the serviceman was not involved in any training at the time of the incident.

“Mindef and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief.”

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, Mindef said.
