SINGAPORE, Oct 4 — A 40-year-old motorcyclist died following an accident involving his motorcycle and two cars on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards Tuas yesterday afternoon.
Photos of the aftermath, shared on Facebook on the same day, show a motorcycle lying on its side on the right-most lane, behind a black car with a shattered rear windshield.
At least one ambulance and police motorcycle were at the scene, alongside several emergency responders.
The first two lanes were cordoned off with traffic cones while vehicles continued moving through the left-most lane.
In a Facebook post yesterday afternoon, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said there was an accident on the AYE towards Tuas, adding that the Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System (EMAS) had blocked two out of three lanes ahead of the accident scene.
ICA warned travellers planning to depart Singapore to expect delays and advised them to use Tuas West Road to reach the checkpoint instead.
In response to AsiaOne’s queries, the police said they were alerted to the accident at about 3.35pm and that the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.
Police investigations are ongoing.
