SINGAPORE, Aug 28 — Local police are looking for a driver who abandoned his car after it skidded and crashed into a traffic island in Sengkang early yesterday, The Straits Times reported.

Police said they were alerted to the August 27 accident at about 6.20am on Sengkang East Road towards Buangkok Green, near Sengkang General Hospital and the Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre.

No injuries were reported.

The driver had left the scene by the time police arrived, and efforts to trace the person are under way.

Photos posted in a Telegram group showed the damaged car on a traffic island that had been partially cordoned off, while a traffic light appeared to have been knocked over.

The traffic light was repaired hours later.
