SINGAPORE, July 26 — Airlines including Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Scoot have cancelled several flights as Typhoon Noul disrupted travel in parts of China and Hong Kong.

SIA said it cancelled three flights between Singapore, Shenzhen and Hong Kong on July 25 and 26 due to the weather conditions caused by the typhoon.

The affected flights were SQ856 from Singapore to Shenzhen on July 25, SQ855 from Shenzhen to Singapore on July 26, and SQ899 from Hong Kong to Singapore on July 26.

The airline advised passengers to check its website for the latest flight updates as further changes may be announced.

Affected customers can request a full refund for the unused portion of their tickets, while those who booked through travel agents or partner airlines were told to contact them directly.

Low-cost carrier Scoot also cancelled flights TR128 and TR129 between Singapore and Shantou on July 25, offering affected passengers the option to rebook or receive a full refund.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific cancelled flights arriving at and departing from Hong Kong International Airport between 1.15am and 6pm on July 26.

The airline said some other flights may be delayed and affected passengers would be moved to alternative flights.

Typhoon Noul was forecast to make landfall along the coast between Hong Kong and Guangdong province from the evening of July 25 to the morning of July 26, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

More than 20,000 people had been evacuated in Guangdong ahead of the storm, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
