SINGAPORE, July 13 — Four people were reportedly taken to Singapore General Hospital after a hornet attack near Redhill Market on July 10.

According to local news organisation The Straits Times, the Singapore Civil Defence Force and Tanjong Pagar Town Council were alerted to the incident in Redhill Lane at about 1pm

The hornets reportedly came from a nest on a tree along the footpath between Block 78 Redhill Lane and a Shell petrol station.

The town council said officers cordoned off the affected area and activated a pest control contractor, which safely removed the nest.

A witness told Chinese-language newspaper Shin Min Daily News that a woman in her 70s was found with red, swollen and bleeding ears after more than 10 hornets reportedly circled her head.

The town council reportedly advised members of the public who encounter aggressive hornets or a nest to move away immediately, seek shelter in a nearby building and avoid disturbing it.

It said those who experience severe reactions after being stung should leave the area and call 995 for urgent medical assistance.
