SINGAPORE, Oct 17 — Over three days in early October, 241 foreign motorists were stopped at Singapore’s land borders and made to pay more than S$619,000 (RM2 million) in outstanding traffic and vehicular fines, The Straits Times reported today.
The Singapore Traffic Police led the operation from October 6 to 8, with support from six government agencies, including the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority and the Land Transport Authority.
Authorities said the checks are part of regular efforts to catch motorists who commit offences and leave fines unpaid. Those with unpaid traffic, parking, or vehicle emissions fines may even be denied entry into Singapore.
