SINGAPORE, Dec 17 — Singapore today reported 24 new imported cases of Covid-19 — the highest daily case tally since Sept 29, when there were 27 infections.
There are no cases in the wider community.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that 23 of the infected people today have no symptoms.
The imported cases include seven Singaporeans and six permanent residents who returned from Austria, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and the United Kingdom.
Another four cases are work pass or work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from India, Indonesia and Maldives.
In addition, MOH said that there are five dependant’s pass holders who arrived from the United Kingdom, as well as a student’s pass holder from India.
The remaining case today is a special pass holder — a 61-year-old Indonesian man — who is a crew member of a ship which had arrived from Indonesia.
The man had not disembarked from the ship and was taken to the hospital after he developed symptoms.
All 24 imported cases had been placed on stay-home notices or isolated upon their arrival in Singapore and they were tested for the coronavirus.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low with no new cases in the past week, MOH said.
Updates on remaining cases
