KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Canadian R&B superstar The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn (AHTD) tour is officially the highest-grossing tour by a male artist, grossing over US$1.3 billion (RM5.4 billion), according to Live Nation Entertainment.
The AHTD tour, which wrapped up with its final show last night at the TM National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, surpassed the previous record held by Sir Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which grossed US$939.1 million.
This also makes The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, one of the few artists in the world with concert tours surpassing the billion-dollar mark, joining Taylor Swift (US$2.07 billion) and Coldplay (US$1.52 billion).
The Asian leg of the AHTD tour, initially announced with 11 dates, was subsequently expanded to 17 shows amid overwhelming demand, including an additional night in Kuala Lumpur, three nights in Bangkok, four in Hong Kong and further dates across other markets.
According to a statement by tour promoter Live Nation, the AHTD stadium tour spanned 176 shows across 67 cities, 30 countries and five continents, selling more than nine million tickets.
In 2026 alone, the tour sold more than three million tickets and grossed over US$500 million.
In July, the tour topped Billboard’s monthly Boxscore chart, grossing more than US$120 million and selling nearly 900,000 tickets in a single month.
The Weeknd has also donated US$8.5 million to the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen, supporting global hunger relief and access to quality education for children worldwide.
The XO Humanitarian Fund is a charitable initiative launched by The Weeknd in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to support global hunger-relief efforts.
In 2026 alone, US$3 million has been raised for the WFP and Global Citizen.
This year’s contributions to Global Citizen will support a new campaign aimed at breaking down barriers faced by women and girls in health, education and economic opportunities, while securing commitments to empower them to reach their full potential.
Meanwhile, The Weeknd has also broken multiple records across China’s major music streaming platforms with his surprise single Hong Kong, which debuted on October 24 during the opening night of his four-show run at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.
The single, which samples Cantopop icon Faye Wong, achieved the biggest first-day debut for a non-Mandarin song in the past five years across streams, likes, saves, comments and shares on NetEase Cloud Music.
The Weeknd also became the first international artist in five years to reach No. 1 on all three major charts on the platform, including Hot Song, Surging and New Music, on the song’s release day on October 31.
He also broke a similar record on QQ Music, where the track earned the biggest debut ever for a Western male artist across streams, saves, comments and shares.
This made The Weeknd the first Western artist in 2026 to top all three major charts on release day.
