KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — Malaysian singer-songwriter Hael Husaini has released a new track titled Selesa, a heartfelt single about the bittersweet reality of loving someone enough to let them go.

The track has garnered approximately 5,800 views on YouTube, with viewership continuing to climb following its release at midnight today.

Written and composed by Hael alongside Iqie Hugh, Selesa explores unrequited love, selfless devotion and the sacrifices people make for someone they care deeply about.

The song tells the story of someone who gives their all to a relationship, only to realise that love and commitment are not always enough to secure a future together.

In a particularly heartbreaking turn, the person must eventually accept that their loved one may find happiness with someone else, putting the other person’s feelings ahead of their own despite the pain of letting go.

Through its lyrics, Selesa reflects the emotional struggle of accepting that sometimes walking away is an act of love, even when the person remains close to one’s heart.

In a statement, Hael said the song reflects the realities of love and the lengths people are sometimes willing to go to make someone they cherish happy, even when it means putting their own feelings aside.

“What makes it even more painful is having to help someone we love find happiness with another person, knowing that we are no longer part of that happiness.

“I hope this song can represent the feelings of those who have gone through similar experiences and serve as a companion to those who are learning to let go,” he said.

The official music video will be released tonight at 9pm.

Filmed exclusively in Jakarta, Indonesia, the video brings together talents from Malaysia and Indonesia.

It features popular Malaysian actress Anna Jobling alongside Indonesian actors Antoni Blanco Junior and Mahdy Reza, both of whom have been gaining attention through their appearances in local television dramas.

Jakarta-based director Prialangga helmed the production, translating the song’s emotional depth into a visual narrative that complements its themes of love, sacrifice and unspoken longing.

Selesa follows Hael’s recent release Garah, a collaboration with Mimi Fly, and marks his latest musical offering to fans.

The new single also extends beyond the music scene, having been selected as the main soundtrack for local television drama series Suamiku Anak Mak.

Featuring Emma Maembong, Keith Foo, Izzue Islam and an ensemble cast, the series premiered on October 26 via Astro.

With its themes of complicated relationships and emotional struggles, Selesa adds another layer of depth to the drama, allowing audiences to connect more closely with the characters’ experiences and the conflicts unfolding on screen.

Hael is also preparing to take his music beyond Malaysian shores, with a scheduled performance at the ROUND Festival in South Korea on November 8, 2026.

The upcoming appearance marks another milestone in his musical journey, providing an international platform for the award-winning singer-songwriter to showcase his artistry while bringing Malaysian music to a wider audience.
