KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 — Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has announced that he will go on his honeymoon with singer-actress Bella Astillah after Parliament’s current sitting ends in December.
He said his immediate priority was fulfilling his responsibilities as an MP, although the couple planned to take short breaks together in the meantime.
“That remains my fundamental responsibility.
“While I owe a duty to my wife in my private capacity, I also owe a duty to my fellow Malaysians who elected me to Parliament.
“After Parliament, obviously, we will go on our honeymoon.
“In the meantime, we will take short breaks.
“We have weekends when there is no Parliament, and next week I will spend a little more private time with my wife and my two children,” he told the media after the couple’s wedding reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) yesterday.
Syed Saddiq added that he hoped to bring Bella’s children, Ayden and Ara, along on the honeymoon.
“InshaAllah, we want to bring the children along.
The exact timing and location have yet to be revealed, as he wants it to be a surprise, even for Bella.
“Honestly, I want it to be a surprise, even for her (Bella).
“People often fantasise about the destination, the distance and the ambience. But, to be honest, it is not just about the location. If you have the right people with you, that makes the honeymoon special.
“I have the greatest partner and two of the greatest children. Wherever we go, we will make it the best honeymoon destination ever,” he said.
Syed Saddiq and Bella celebrated their marriage at the Mitec reception yesterday, attended by about 3,000 guests, including members of the royal family, celebrities and media representatives.
The celebrations will continue with two public receptions, dubbed Kenduri Rakyat, in Muar, Johor, on October 25 and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on October 31, where members of the public have been invited to join in the festivities.
