MUMBAI, Oct 19 — A shooting involving Bollywood star Tiger Shroff has left two people injured, including his driver, after gunmen opened fire on a car leaving a football club in Mumbai, according to local media reports.
The BBC reported that Shroff, 36, escaped without gunshot wounds in the incident on Sunday evening in Juhu, a suburb of the Indian city.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor after the attack and said Shroff and his mother were “shaken” by what had happened.
“These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism,” Shinde said.
Video footage published by several news outlets appeared to show at least two gunmen firing repeatedly at the front passenger seat of a car as it moved slowly past a crowd.
Police are investigating the shooting, which adds to a series of high-profile attacks on public figures in India in recent years.
In 2024, actor Salman Khan’s home was targeted in a gun attack. Police subsequently arrested two men linked to a criminal gang over the incident.
Baba Siddique, a prominent Indian politician, was also shot dead in Mumbai that year.
Shroff entered the film industry in 2014 with the romantic film Heropanti.
The son of two actors, he has since appeared in several films and is also a keen football player with professional club Mumbai FC.
