KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — An abandoned shopping mall, a mysterious faceless entity, and a game that takes a terrifying turn set the stage for Kacau, with the upcoming horror thriller unveiling its official trailer and poster ahead of its cinema release on November 12.
Directed by Muzzamer Rahman, whose previous work includes Prebet Sapu, the film is adapted from Ariff Adly’s bestselling novel published by Buku Fixi.
The trailer and poster were first unveiled on October 12 and released on social media on October 13.
Designed by Lah Hamid, the poster features a faceless entity towering over the film’s seven main characters, hinting at the supernatural threat that awaits them.
The characters are portrayed by Evanatie Sannie, Sadiq M. Jamil, Fimie Don, Idan Aedan, Khayrisyah Kemal, Arfie Shah, and Nurel Baharin.
Meanwhile, the trailer gives audiences a closer look at the film’s unsettling atmosphere, with an abandoned shopping mall serving as the setting for the unfolding horror.
It also teases the faceless entity’s appearance, scenes of characters coming under attack, and the Spirit of the Coin game that sets the terrifying events in motion.
Set to hit cinemas nationwide on November 12, 2026, Kacau has secured 80 screening locations across the country.
The production team hopes for strong audience support during the film’s first four days in cinemas, as the initial response will be crucial in determining whether it continues its run into the following week.
Director Muzzamer also shared that although author Ariff was not involved in technical filmmaking aspects, such as camera movements, his influence on the film was 100 per cent.
At its heart, Kacau follows a group of young friends whose attempt to play Spirit of the Coin leads them into an encounter with a supernatural entity.
What begins as a ghost-hunting adventure soon turns into a fight to survive as the haunting takes a frightening turn.
With its eerie setting and mysterious antagonist, the film looks to bring a new dose of supernatural suspense to local cinema audiences this November.
