PETALING JAYA, Aug 28 — The world is singing Dolly Parton’s songs once more — and this time, it’s in tribute. The country music icon’s passing on August 25 has sparked a global wave of affection, with fans flooding streaming charts and social media in heartfelt remembrance.

Her timeless hits have soared to the top of the UK Apple Music charts, where six of her classics — Jolene, Islands In the Stream, 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You, Coat of Many Colors and Here You Come Again — now dominate the Top 10.

“Dolly gave us songs that felt like home,” one fan wrote on X, while another added, “She taught the world that kindness and grit could share the same stage.”

According to Forbes, Parton became the most streamed artist in the United States on Spotify the day after her death — the first time she had ever topped the platform’s chart.

Her signature hit Jolene led the surge, followed by 9 to 5 and Islands in the Stream, with 15 of her songs entering the US Top 200.

Globally, she ranked second only to Bad Bunny, with Jolene and 9 to 5 taking the top two spots.

Forbes also reported that streams of Parton’s music jumped an astonishing 2,320 per cent in the US and 1,260 per cent globally, while Jolene alone saw a 1,225 per cent spike stateside.

Charts aside, even Google joined the chorus of tributes, with search results briefly showing a butterfly filled memorial reading “We will always love you 1946–2026”.

In London, the British press reported that Buckingham Palace guards struck up 9 to 5 during the Changing of the Guard, a jaunty salute to the country legend the morning after her passing.
