KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — The top three at the local box office continue to hold their ground this week, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day retaining the No. 1 spot, followed by The Odyssey in second and Jana Nayagan in third.

While the top of the chart remains steady, there is plenty of movement elsewhere.

Tamil-language film DC has made its way into the rankings after being well received nationwide, with praise for its gritty direction, and the performance of Lokesh Kanagaraj, who steps in front of the camera in his acting debut after making his name as a director.

Local release Tiket Sehala, Turkish horror Siccin 9 and Thai horror Possessed also join this week’s list.

The bigger story, however, is unfolding on the streaming front, where Malaysian series are making a strong impression.

Bulan Henti Bicara leads Netflix’s chart, while Cinta Dalam Sekam holds on to the No. 1 spot on Viu.

Over on Disney+, The Husband continues its impressive run as the platform’s most-watched series for another week.
