SEOUL, Aug 9 — A woman in her 20s has been arrested after allegedly attacking the entrance of K-pop powerhouse YG Entertainment’s headquarters with a golf club in a dramatic incident caught on camera.

Police detained the woman at about 9pm on Thursday outside the company’s headquarters in Hapjeong-dong, western Seoul, according to The Korea Herald.

Footage of the incident subsequently spread across social media after a fan who had been filming a dance video nearby captured the confrontation.

The footage shows the woman running towards the YG building carrying a golf club before repeatedly striking its glass entrance doors.

She appeared poised to swing the club several more times before a bystander intervened and restrained her until police arrived.

YG Entertainment confirmed that an incident had taken place but offered few further details.

“We understand that she was handed over to the police. It is difficult for us to confirm any further details,” a company official told The Korea Herald.

Police are now investigating what prompted the alleged attack and the circumstances surrounding it.

The incident quickly triggered speculation among K-pop fans online, including unverified claims that the woman may have been a Blackpink fan unhappy with what some supporters regarded as insufficient group-focused celebrations ahead of the quartet’s 10th anniversary.

There has been no confirmation of those claims, however, and police have not publicly established a motive for the incident.
