KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Malaysian smash-hit Projek: High Council is making the leap from living rooms to the big screen in style.

Anwari Ashraf’s 2023 series became a full-blown cultural craze and Astro’s all-time No. 1 on-demand show.

It racked up more than a billion views across social media too.

The universe already spun off the acclaimed 2024 prequel film Kahar: Kapla High Council, which put Amir Ahnaf’s Kahar front and centre.

Now the franchise is diving even deeper with another prequel, Kudrat 1968: High Council, set decades earlier.

Yesterday the team pulled back the curtain on the six leads at a lively event at Robert’s Theatre, The Campus in Ampang.

Mierul Aiman, who played Fakhri in the original series, steps into a brand-new role as Kuda (Tengku Uda Tengku Ali).

Zarif Ghazzi takes on Abbas, fresh from shows like Hilang Dalam Rindu.

Dai Fuad, still riding high from Good Boys Go to Heaven, steps in as Pa.

Chech Harith lands the part of Mazli, Akmal Asyraf plays Piji, and Evertts Gomes – rising fast after Kelas Tahanan Cikgu Hiragi – becomes Ghafar.

All six are familiar faces with solid fanbases, picked after a tough audition process for the energy they bring.

Here’s the real game-changer: Kudrat 1968 will be Malaysia’s first story told across both a series and a film.

It kicks off with a tight four-episode Astro Originals run before charging straight into a feature film.

The short series lets the world and characters breathe properly before the cinema payoff.

The plot follows a student shoved into an institution built on his father’s name.

He has to choose whether to defend the system that made him or tear it down.

Zulaikha Zakaria, a High Council veteran as writer and co-director, teams up with Khairi Asyraff as directors and showrunners.

Astro Shaw leads production with ZAK Capital, Enotech Pictures, Pegasus Motion Pictures and HM Entertainment.

No firm release dates yet, but both the series and film are expected to drop soon.
