KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Taiwanese stars Joseph Chang and Alyssa Chia have been spotted filming a mystery project in the Malaysian capital this week.

A source told Malay Mail that the production was filming around the city centre on Monday with scenes shot outside a bar and a nearby mamak stall.

A large film crew and extensive production equipment were seen at the locations, while local authorities were also present to assist with traffic control.

The shoot attracted the attention of passers-by, who caught glimpses of the actors during filming.

Chang was seen dressed in an all-black outfit with short hair and visible tattoos, giving him a rugged appearance.

Chia later arrived on set in a black blazer, wide-leg trousers and heels, with footage from the shoot suggesting an action sequence.

She was seen taking a phone call before rushing into a taxi, hinting at a dramatic scene from the undisclosed project.

The production has yet to reveal its title, and no official announcement has been made about the collaboration between Chang and Chia.

Chang rose to fame with his role as Yu Shouheng in the critically acclaimed 2006 Taiwanese film Eternal Summer, which earned him Golden Horse Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best New Performer.

He was also nominated for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film at the 41st Golden Bell Awards for his role as Paul in Corner of Auction World.

His most recent film project was the 2024 Japan-Taiwan co-production romance film 18×2 Beyond Youthful Days.

Chia is known for her roles in television dramas including The Prince of Han Dynasty (2001), The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (2002) and Lady Wu: The First Empress (2003).

She won Best Leading Actress in a Television Series at the 2019 Golden Bell Awards for The World Between Us.

In 2021, she won the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress for psychological drama The Falls, directed by Chung Mong-hong.

More details about the Kuala Lumpur shoot, including its title and release plans, have yet to be announced.
