SEOUL, July 15 — Former Roo’ra member Go Young-wook has raised eyebrows after suggesting he could turn to Japan’s adult film industry following years of struggling to find work in South Korea.

The disgraced former rapper floated the idea on X, saying he had heard Japan was facing a shortage of male adult film actors and wondered if he could legally enter the industry, news outlet Korea JoongAng Daily reported.

“Since it seems difficult to find a job in Korea, I think I saw somewhere that Japan is short of male porn actors. If it’s legally possible...” he wrote last Sunday.

He later clarified his comment in a reply, adding: “If the law allows it.”

Go, who was part of the popular hip-hop group Roo’ra in the 1990s, was convicted in 2013 for indecent acts and sexually assaulting three minors between 2010 and 2012.

He was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and released in 2015, with the court also ordering him to wear an electronic ankle monitor for three years.

The order made him the first South Korean entertainer to be placed under such monitoring.

Since his release, Go has attempted to reconnect with the public through social media, including Instagram and YouTube, but his accounts were repeatedly removed under platform policies restricting accounts linked to sex crime convictions.

According to the news outlet, he now uses X as his main platform to share updates with followers.

Go’s latest remarks have reignited public discussion over his attempts to restart his career after his conviction effectively ended his entertainment activities in South Korea.
