KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — Pioneering Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya is coming to Malaysia for a historic concert at Zepp KL on June 1.

Known as Nepal’s most iconic and earthy musical ensemble, the band is set to bring its legendary fusion of folk melodies and modern rock to KL for a one-night-only event.

Formed in 1990, Nepathya has remained a consistent force in Nepali music for over three decades.

Under the leadership of guardian and lead vocalist Amrit Gurung, the band has served as a platform for talented musicians, with 24 new faces contribute to its evolving sound while maintaining an unwavering commitment to Nepal’s cultural identity.

Nepathya is renowned for more than just its 10 hit albums; it is a band with a deep social conscience too.

They have undertaken nationwide tours, raising millions of Nepalese rupees (NPR) to keep schools free from politics and violence.

They also raised over 4 million NPR (RM102,800) for Nepal’s earthquake victims in 2015 and another 10 million NPR (RM257,000) in 2022 for their local NGO Manavsewa Ashram to support the elderly and needy via a month-long nationwide tour coined as the ‘Music for Humanity’ tour.

Nepathya has also been involved in documenting folk research through award-winning films like the 2003 musical road-trip documentary Bhedako Oon Jasto, which was directed by Kiran Krishna Shrestha.

Having performed over 110 concerts outside Nepal across 19 countries — including landmark shows at Wembley Arena in London and the Manhattan Centre in New York — Nepathya is no stranger to the international spotlight.

The upcoming Kuala Lumpur show continues its 2025/2026 international momentum, which includes tours across the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Fans can expect a soulful journey through the band’s catalogue, from early 1990s hits like Chekyo Chekyo to the folk-rock anthems of Resham and Sa Karnali.

The Nepathya Live in KL concert is organised by LFG Entertainment and tickets are still available at prices ranging from RM150 to RM200 (for Standing and Seated).

Several VIP Box packages are also available for groups of 10, priced at RM1,000.
