SEOUL, Sept 24 — Move over mango, there’s a new fruit crush in K-pop town. Ive’s Wonyoung has officially joined Team Durian — and she’s not shy about it.

The 21-year-old singer revealed on fan app Bubble that she finally gave the King of Fruits a proper try while in Macau last weekend. 

“I wanted to eat durian, so I asked my manager to buy me some,” she wrote, before describing how the infamous scent hit her “without warning.”

Heart suitably steeled, Wonyoung took a bite — and immediately served a full emoji drama arc for fans.

“I can’t explain my durian tasting experience any better than this,” she confessed.

During a follow-up livestream on Berriz, the Ive star doubled down on her new obsession. 

“For me, durian is so delicious,” she said. 

“At first, the smell was [not pleasant] and I was like ‘Please get rid of it.’ But when I ate it, I thought it was really sweet, creamy and soft. It’s so tasty for me. It’s a taste that can’t be found in Korea.”

This isn’t Wonyoung’s first durian encounter — she and her bandmates once sampled durian pudding in Singapore in 2023 (in the video below at the 7min 7sec mark), where reactions ranged from “It’s good!” (Wonyoung, naturally) to Liz screaming in protest. 

But this time, the real fruit won her heart.
