KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — The producer of hit reality show Sing! China, Can Xing Media is suing the management company of the late American-Hong-Kong singer Coco Lee, Warner Music China (HK) Limited.

After news of the suit broke, social media users slammed Can Xing Media for the move.

They said the action of Can Xing Media will only cause the company’s share prices to plummet.

They also accused the company of being shameless for filing the suit.

The news came after broadcaster Zhejiang Media Group announced the reality show has been suspended pending investigations for its production standards.

The group had launched an investigation on August 20 after a leaked audio clip of Lee surfaced. In the nine-minute clip, Lee voiced her anger that a contestant with a higher score was eliminated and another with a lower score was given a second chance.

Lee passed away on July 5 in Hong Kong after a suicide attempt left her in a coma for three days.

Sing! China is a rebranded version of the singing competition The Voice of China which premiered in July 2012.
