KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — Local filmmaker and actor Nam Ron is asking why the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (Finas) still hasn’t appointed their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) just yet.
The Gedebe director has taken to his Facebook to point out that Finas should have announced its successor by now.
"Why hasn’t Finas appointed their new CEO? It’s been a while since their last CEO was decommissioned.
"If you want the chairman to carry out the duties of CEO or whether there’s someone else on the list, please announce it quickly. What are you waiting for?” he asked via the post.
He added that the appointment of a new CEO should be made immediately to ensure growth in the industry.
"The minister should be faster in making decisions so that the work force can progress as well,” he said.
Nam Ron’s post was a reply to a comment made by Facebook user Saniboey Mohd Ismail who pointed out the need for speed in the local film industry.
On May 31, Finas former CEO Md Nasir Ibrahim’s contract was terminated by the filming body.
Nasir’s contract with Finas was cut five months short as his contract was supposed to officially end in October this year.
As reported by New Straits Times, following his termination, Nasir recently filed a suit at the High Court against Finas and five individuals for unlawful termination from his position.
