Michelle Yeoh to receive International Star Award for her 'Everything Everywhere all at Once' role

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is set to receive the International Star Award at the 34th annual Palm Springs International Film Awards to be held in California in January 2023.

Yeoh will receive the award for her performance in A24 film Everything Everywhere all at Once.

The Hollywood Reporter quoted festival chairman Harold Matzner as saying Yeoh is "everything in the exhilarating film".

"In one of the most memorable roles of her career, Yeoh plays Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American woman who is recruited to save the multiverse.

"For this film that is a fantastic showcase for Michelle Yeoh, it is our honour to present her with the international star award, actress.”

In the film, Yeoh plays an overwhelmed immigrant mother who is involved in an epic adventure. She must connect different versions of herself in the parallel universe to stop someone who intends to harm the multiverse.

The film has so far received eight Independent Spirit Award nominations including best feature and best lead performance for Yeoh.

Past recipients of the award include notable celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren, Saoirse Ronan and Charlize Theron.

Launched in 1990, the Palm Springs International Film Festival is a premier presenter of world cinema located in south California.

The festival brings together a diverse audience, including industry players and film enthusiasts from all over the world.
