KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 – After a decade-long hiatus, homegrown hip-hop and RnB vocal group Ruffedge is back with a concert to mark its 20th anniversary.
The band was formed in 1997 and broke into the music scene in 1998.
They are best known for their harmonising vocals in Malay and English hits like Bila Rindu, Tipah Tertipu and Da’ Bomb, but went their separate ways to focus on solo projects in 2008.
Now, members Zain Hamid, 40, Mode Abdullah, 43, Azan Addin, 44, Cat Farish, 44, and Syed Hussein aka Sein, 35, are back to woo fans.
Ruffedge: 20th Anniversary Concert will take place at KL Live on August 4 at 9pm.
At a press conference earlier today, the band said they received overwhelming queries about a reunion concert since performing at Fattah Amin and Nur Fazura Sharifuddin’s wedding reception in February.
Ruffedge also performed at Shila Amzah’s wedding to Haris Idraki Elias last month.
"Fans kept asking us when we’re going to have a concert — this answers all their questions,” said Sein.
Interestingly, this will be the band’s first concert.
"We’ve only ever done showcases and this will be something new for fans,” added Sein.
The two-hour concert will feature Ruffedge’s hit singles such as Lemas, Khayalan and Tiada Lagi Cinta, along with other songs, including their new single Seperti Mereka.
"With this concert, we feel as though we are gathering all our experiences from the past and we feel readier than ever to perform on stage,” said Zain.
"If you want to watch Ruffedge at its peak, this concert will showcase our experience and maturity,” said Mode.
The band is also working on a new album.
