LOS ANGELES, April 23 — HBO has released the first teaser for upcoming haunting new series Sharp Objects that stars Amy Adams.

The eight-episode limited series is based on the 2006 novel by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn. Adams stars as reporter Camille Preaker who returns to her hometown to investigate the murders of two young girls only to find herself confronting her own personal demons.

The series also stars Patricia Clarkson, Elizabeth Perkins, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Madison Davenport, Matt Craven and Taylor John Smith. Will Chase, Jackson Hurst, Jennifer Aspen and Sydney Sweeney have recurring roles.

Sharp Objects is set to premiere on HBO in July.
