Can Kris Wu convince China to start watching NFL?

BEIJING, Jan 29 — The National Football League has named Chinese singer and actor Kris Wu as Super Bowl LII Ambassador for NFL China.

Wu will also perform at Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon, a 10-day fan festival kicking off in Minneapolis on February 3.

NFL hopes to leverage on Wu’s popularity to build an audience for American football in China.

Wu has a large fan base in his home country, with over 27 million followers on Weibo and 5.6 million on Instagram.

His performance and experience attending Super Bowl LII as a fan will be covered and broadcast online in China by Tencent Sports.

Wu began his career as a member of South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO.

As a solo artist, has topped the music charts in China with his singles 6, Juice and July.

We recently become the first and only Chinese artist to hit No. 1 on iTunes with the newly released single Deserve.
