LOS ANGELES, Jan 10 — Producer Marshmello has revealed he worked with Lil Peep before the rapper’s death late last year and that the fruits of their collaboration will drop this Friday.

Marshmello shared the news and further details in two tweets; following an initial announcement that the collaboration would be released Friday, the producer offered up a second tweet in response to a message from a Twitter user who said that other artists with Lil Peep tracks in the works had chosen not to release them.

"I didn’t plan on releasing the song until peeps mom reached out and told me she wanted her sons music to come out... what am I supposed to do?” he responded.

The rising emo rapper Lil Peep died of an accidental overdose in November at the age of 21. He gained recognition through a series of mixtapes and released his critically acclaimed debut studio album, Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 1, in August of last year.

The DJ and producer Marshmello — whose identity is unknown — has collaborated with a number of artists over the past year, including Demi Lovato, Khalid and Selena Gomez.
