SEOUL, Oct 29 — Popular South Korean actress Park Shin-hye has usually portrayed cheerful characters throughout her 15-year career.
In her upcoming film Silence, however, fans will get to see a different side of her. The movie, directed by Jung Ji-woo, also stars veteran actor Choi Min-sik. The story explores the murder of the fiancée of a chaebol (played by Choi), and the suspicion that falls on his daughter. Park plays the lawyer who represents the daughter, played by Lee Soo-kyung.
On talking about her character, Park said, "I know how to express it when I'm in a bad mood too. I'm saying I'm not just a nice person who covers my own feelings and gives to others. However, the characters I play on TV have always been bright and cheerful, so there are a lot of people who are taken aback when they meet me in person.
"My temper can also flare at times, I can cry out of anger, and sometimes I stay at home all day. When I think something's not right, I'll voice my complaints. Just because it's me, I can't always be cheerful and fresh like I just ate 1000 vitamins.”
Silence is set to hit cinemas on November 2.
