SYDNEY, June 24 — Steve Irwin will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018.
Sky News reported that the late "Crocodile Hunter” is being recognised for his contribution to the entertainment industry through wildlife documentaries.
Irwin, who died in September 2006, after being struck multiple times by a stingray barb while filming in waters off Port Douglas in far north Queensland, is the only posthumous member of the 2018 television class, which also includes The X-Files actor Gillian Anderson and 1970s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.
Following the news, Irwin’s wife, Terri, tweeted, "Someone I love is a star,” while his 18-year-old daughter, Bindi, shared a photo of her and her dad on Instagram.
Along with the snap, she wrote, "Dad changed the world by reaching out to people through their television screens to bring them on the adventure of a lifetime. To have his name on a Hollywood Star means the world as we carry on his important work.”
Son Robert also marked the occasion with a video showing him along with his mum and sister reacting joyously to the news.
