Netflix axes ‘Marco Polo’ after second season

LOS ANGELES, Dec 13 — Netflix has cancelled its original series Marco Polo after just two seasons.

The historical drama, which told the story of the legendary Italian explorer and his exploits in the Mongolian Empire, saw its second and final 10-episode season air this July, Variety reports.

Set in the 13th century, it starred Lorenzo Richelmy as the title character and Benedict Wong of The Martian and Prometheus as the Mongolian Emperor Kublai Khan.

The cast also included Olivia Cheng, Jean Chen, Zhy Zhu and Mahesh Jadu. It first debuted in 2014. — AFP-Relaxnews
