LOS ANGELES, Nov 25 — TV series Emerald City makes its debut in January 2017 and, ahead of a ten episode run, comissioning network NBC has released a debut trailer for the this new adaptation of The Wizard of Oz.
Adria Arjona, previously seen in Person of Interest, Narcos and True Detective season 2, stars as Dorothy, a 20-year-old whisked up into a tornado and dumped, with a police dog for company, in a different world entirely.
There she meets what we might recognize as reinterpretations of the scarecrow (Oliver Jackson-Cohen, NBC's Dracula) the cowardly lion (Mido Hamada, American Sniper) and Jack Pumpkinhead (Gerran Howell, Young Dracula).
Also seen are Vincent D'Onofrio as the Wizard and Ana Ularu (Serena), Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) and Florence Kasumba (Captain America: Civil War) as a trio of witches good and bad.
Emerald City is to start broadcasting from January 6, 2017.
