KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — Two Malaysian artistes are now in the running for the highly-coveted title of MTV EMA Best South-east Asia Act, along with five other tough competitors from the region.

The Malaysian nominees for the category are none other than pop punk trio, Bunkface, as well as international singer-songwriter, Yuna, whose song was recently featured in Grey’s Anatomy.

They are competing against: Thai hip hop music group Thaitanium, Filipino songbird Sarah Geronimo, Singaporean crooner Gentle Bones and Vietnamese pop star Đông Nhi.

This is the first time that Bunkface have been nominated for the prestigious award, while it is the second time for Yuna, as previously, she was also nominated for the category in 2014, but that year, the award went to Sara Geronimo.

Malaysia is the only country with two representatives in the category.

The annual MTV Europe Music Awards 2016 will take place at the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on November 6, 2016.
