LOS ANGELES, Sept 28 — Believe it or not, Kiefer Sutherland is actually praising Julia Roberts for having the guts to call of their wedding all those years ago.

According to Huffington Post, Sutherland in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly and People’s Jess Cagle revealed that it took a lot of courage for her to walk away from the relationship on the eve of their wedding but that he’s glad she made that brave call.

"I think she was being realistic for herself.

"I think it’s hard to explain the pressure. We were young and we were both very much in love and we had decided that we wanted to get married.

"She was arguably the most famous woman in the world and this wedding that was supposed to be something between the two of us became something so big,” Sutherland added.

"And then in the middle of that I think she had the courage ― it wasn’t what she wanted to do in the end. And I think it took a lot of courage, in amongst all that other stuff, to be able to say, ‘I can’t do this.’ And I’m gonna leave it at that.”

The former couple began dating in 1990 after meeting on the set of horror film Flatliners. They got engaged in August of the same year, not long after Sutherland divorced his first wife.

Roberts called off their nuptials in June 1991 just three days before it was due to take place.
