MIAMI, Sept 23 — Tom Selleck’s sunny crime drama series Magnum PI is making a comeback, but this time it’s the character’s daughter who will be the star.

US network ABC has ordered a script treatment for a new Magnum PI and has executives in place to produce it, one of whom is Deperate Housewives actress and John Wick producer Eva Longoria.

Rather than Thomas Magnum as the eponymous private investigator, the series will focus on daughter Lily "Tommy” Magnum, while promising a similar mix of sun-kissed beaches and slimy underworld goings-on.

John Rogers, who partners Longoria at her production company, co-wrote Michael Bay’s Transformers, co-created Leverage and The Player, and is also among those backing the project, reported both Deadline and Variety. — AFP-Relaxnews
