MUMBAI, Aug 26 — If you needed more convincing on Bollywood’s unstoppable box office appeal, you might want to check out Forbes’ list of the world's highest paid actors for this year.
Four Bollywood bigwigs have made it to the list with Shah Rukh Khan leading the pact at eight spot with US$33 million (RM132 million) in earnings. Surprisingly, Shah Rukh did not feature in last year’s and has certainly made a comeback with his movie Fan.
Akshay Kumar has had a good year so far with Rustom, Housefull 3 and Airlift, which is why he rounds off the top 10 with Brad Pitt at US$31.5 million.
Bollywood’s most eligible bachelor Salman Khan was ranked 14 with US$28.5 million) with yesteryear legend Amitabh Bachchan coming in at 18 with US$20 million.
Topping the Forbes list was Dwayne Johnson with US$64.5 million. Hot on this track was our kung fu favourite Jackie Chan with US$61 million, Matt Damon with US$55 million, Tom Cruise with US$53 million and Johnny Depp with US$48 million.
Deepika Padukone was the lone Indian actress to be featured in the list of highest paid actresses, released just days ago, that saw Jennifer Lawrence on top with US$46 million, Melissa McCarthy with US$33 million and Scarlett Johansson with US$25 million.
Deepika came in tenth with US$10 million in earnings.
