SHAH ALAM, July 27 — Thousands turned up at the Malawati Indoor Stadium here on Monday night to watch American pop star Selena Gomez in her much anticipated Revival Tour.

Sisters Nurul Aida Mohd Herwan, 18, and Nureena Nabilah Mohd Herwan, 17, said they arrived more than two hours before the show started at about 8.30pm as they were fans of Gomez since they first saw her on the TV show Wizards of Waverly Place.

"We always talked about her and never dreamt that we would one day see her live,” said Nurul Aida.

Best friends Emman Noorazman, 15, and Althafhanif Amanullah, 15, were also psyched up to see the Hands to Myself singer in person.

"We watched her on television since we were little children and this was the only way we could get close to her,” said Emman.

Althafhanif said they were lucky to still get tickets a day before the concert.

"We saved our allowance for this and it was only enough for the gold tickets but we are glad to be here,” he said.

Gomez delighted the crowd with songs from the start of her singing career, while charming the crowd with her energetic dance moves.

She also kept to the guidelines for attire and wore palazzo pants with a turtle neck top, a shiny and shimmering three-quarter dress and  leather pants paired with a black tank top.

Gomez arrived at the KL International Airport on Sunday morning after her Jakarta leg of the tour.

Malaysia is her second stop in Asia before she performs in Singapore and other cities in Asia.

The presence of a small group of protesters outside the stadium before the start of the concert failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the fans.

However, all concert goers were scanned thoroughly before entering the stadium.
