LONDON, June 29 — James Van Der Beek has joined the cast of the new UK comedy Carters Get Rich.

The Dawson’s Creek and CSI: Cyber star is set to appear in the upcoming six-episode family sitcom by Sky 1, Deadline reports.

The show, which will air in the autumn, will tell the tale of an everyday family who struggle to hold onto their normality in the face of unexpected wealth after its 11-year-old son designs a successful app.

Van Der Beek will play the role of Trent Zebrisky, a billionaire who buys out the invention for £10 million (RM54.156 million).

The actor joins fellow cast members Rhashan Stone, Kerry Godliman¸ John Finnemore, Rhianna Merralls and Rio Chambers. — AFP-Relaxnews
