LOS ANGELES, June 28 — Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim have separated after nearly 12 years of marriage.

A spokesperson for the Face/Off actor confirmed to People that the couple went their separate ways in January.

The 52-year-old actor married Kim in July 2004, after a whirlwind romance. The couple met when she waited on his table at a Los Angeles restaurant in February 2004.

They have one son together, 10-year-old Kal-el Coppola, who is named after Superman’s birth name.

This is Cage’s third marriage. He married actress Patricia Arquette in 1995, but they divorced in 2001.

The following year, he married Elvis’s daughter Lisa Marie-Presley. They divorced in 2004.

Cage also has a 25-year-old son, Weston, from an earlier relationship with model Christina Fulton.
