LOS ANGELES, June 24 — The trailer for upcoming feature Inferno has been released, with Tom Hanks playing humanity saviour Robert Langdon.

Inferno is based on the book by Dan Brown, reports Deadline, where Dante’s Nine Circles of Hell have been rearranged and main character Langdon finds himself inexplicably involved. When he wakes up with amnesia, he can’t recall stealing Dante’s Death Mask or why he’s having visions.

He soon discovers that Dante’s Inferno isn’t fiction but a prophecy predicting a plague that could wipe out half the Earth’s population. Felicity Jones plays a doctor working with Langdon to regain his memory, while Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Ben Foster have co-starring roles in the film.

This will be director Ron Howard’s third film adaptation of Dan Brown’s books, after The Da Vinci Code (2006) and Angels & Demons (2009). Inferno hits theatres on October 28. — AFP-Relaxnews
