LOS ANGELES, May 12 — The official trailer for the reboot of Voltron: Legendary Defender reveals a cheeky, light-hearted take on the iconic Japanese anime which became a cultural phenomenon when it aired in the 1980s.
Netflix released a full trailer introducing the cast of main characters who go on to pilot a super robot made up of five individual lions, Voltron — also known as the Defender of the Universe.
Created by DreamWorks Animation, the reboot remains faithful to the style of Japanese anime and plays cheeky kid-friendly humour against rescue missions to save the world.
Voices for the main characters include Kimberly Brooks as Princess Allura; Rhys Darby as Coran; Josh Keaton as Shiro, Black Lion; Tyler Labine as Hunk, Yellow; Jeremy Shada as Lance, Blue Lion; Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge, Green Lion; and Steven Yeun as Keith, Red Lion.
The series airs on Netflix on June 10 in an hour-long premiere, followed by 10, 22-minute episodes.
