LOS ANGELES, March 16 — If you loved the highway fight scene in Deadpool, you have the team from Atomic Fiction to thank for giving you that thrill.
The in-depth VFX breakdown reel above showcases the behind-the-scenes work that went into creating the scene’s computer-generated characters, vehicles and entire urban environment.
It turns out that not only were Deadpool’s his trick-of-the-eye moves and swordplay done digitally, most of the vehicles involved in the scene were digital duplicates as well, making it easy to choreograph the collisions and flips, without jeopardising any actor’s safety.
And the main takeaway? Without digital stunt doubles, one of our favourite Marvel heroes would probably end up falling on his swords quite literally.
