LOS ANGELES, Feb 1 — Now that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are back in love, bestselling author Nicholas Sparks says the couple always had “magic” between them.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, opened up about working with the actors in 2010’s The Last Song and the immediate spark he noticed between them.   

Cyrus and Hemsworth first met while filming the romantic drama, which was inspired by Sparks’ 2009 novel of the same name. The stars began dating on set, but ended their one-year engagement in 2013. They recently reconciled and are said to be engaged once again.  

“I might tend to believe there was little bit of magic involved. They’re both really terrific people, right? It was great watching them.”

“Liam was unknown [at the time],” he added. “This was his first role. And, of course, Miley was a superstar by that time, just so talented in so many ways. Really great to know that, you know, even after the breakup, they remained friends.”
