LONDON, Jan 22 — A musical satirising the leader of Britain's main opposition Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn, is set to open in London In April, the writers announced yesterday.

The influences on Corbyn The Musical: The Motorcycle Diaries range from James Bond to The Book of Mormon, according to Bobby Friedman and Rupert Myers.

Asked to describe the plot, Myers told the BBC: "Basically, Jeremy Corbyn faces an imminent nuclear crisis with Russia, and the secret of unlocking this lies in his past."

The show also pokes fun at a relationship Corbyn reportedly had with Diane Abbott, now his international development spokeswoman, which led to them taking a motorcycling holiday through East Germany in the 1970s.

Corbyn himself is expected to be invited to a performance of the show.

Since being elected as Labour leader last year, Corbyn has been mercilessly mocked by Britain's right-wing newspapers for everything from his beard to pacificism to his cat "El Gato" — Spanish for "The Cat". — AFP
