LOS ANGELES, Jan 6 ― Unlike his fellow action hero from that era, Sylvester Stallone is not going to turn around and say “I’ll be back” when it comes to his role in “Rambo”.
Stallone is hanging up that headband for good and has confirmed that he’ll be retiring from his role as John Rambo in a recent interview. Speaking to Variety, Stallone who played the super soldier Rambo over the course of four films, most recently in 2008’s fourth instalment simply titled “Rambo”, says he will no longer play the titular character despite previous plans for a Rambo V.
“The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!’ It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else.”
Noting he’s content with how the fourth movie left things for Rambo, Stallone added: “There’s nothing left. When they asked me to do another ‘Rambo’, I said, ‘If I can’t do better than I did last time, and I can’t, then why?’”
There currently is a “Rambo” TV series in development at Fox, which will focus on Rambo’s son. However, Stallone won’t have any involvement with the show.
