KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — The tropical island of Pulau Tiga off Sabah is set to provide the backdrop for yet another popular reality TV series — the Australian version of “Survivor”.

Australian news site news.com.au reported today that Network Ten will film the series starting from March this year and continue for three months. The show is also expected to air within the year.

Beverley McGarvey, the network’s chief programming officer told the Australian news portal that picking a spot used for a previous series was deliberate.

“We’ll end up collecting an island location — most likely a location that has had a series of Survivor shot there before," she was quoted saying.

Pulau Tiga was used for the first US season of “Survivor” back in 2000.

According to the report, although the island has a resort, a campsite, a restaurant and a national park, it will be presented as a deserted and isolated spot.
