LOS ANGELES, Nov 26 — A reboot and a spin-off in one cinematic package, the new film staring Michael B Jordan and Sylvester Stallone has hit US$1.4 million ((RM5.89 million)) in box office takings after a single evening.

The amount is a record for a Thanksgiving week Tuesday night preview and suggests that the new film is going to be a knock out with audiences when it rolls out across the US this weekend.

Though technically speaking the seventh in the “Rocky” franchise, “Creed” casts Stallone's Rocky in a supporting role as trainer to Jordan's Adonis Johnson, the long-lost son of Rocky's former best friend Apollo Creed.

As well as role reversal, “Creed” is also notable for being the first “Rocky” film that Stallone has neither written nor directed. — AFP-Relaxnews
