LOS ANGELES, Nov 14 — Actor Rob Lowe has come under fire on social media after posting several questionable tweets on Twitter today following the attacks on Paris last night.
The actor first tweeted this message:
But soon after, he derided France’s President Francois Hollande’s speech announcing the closing of the border, implying that France would not have been attacked if they had closed their borders to refugees earlier:
The 51-year-old actor also derided Hollande’s speech, calling it “the worst ever given.”
Many Twitter users reacted to his tweets with outrage while others tell him not to be insensitive:
The Grinder star went on to post a tweet on The Martian, tweeting “Wait, “The Martian” filmmakers want to win a Golden Globe so badly, they’re entering it as a COMEDY?!! #gross #RidleyScottIsAlwaysFunny” before realising the furore he had caused with his earlier remarks.
Lowe backpedalled, posting a new tweet offering prayers for the people of France:
However, Twitter users were not convinced, with user Paiement Natalie tweeting, “Oh NOW you feel compassion.”
