SINGAPORE, Nov 12 — It was the local song that became a viral hit earlier this year. It was so popular it spawned a movie. And now, fans can get a first glimpse of “Mr Unbelievable,” the new movie by mm2 Entertainment Pte Ltd, Clover Films and Byleft Productions featuring Chen Tian Wen’s character from the music video.

Directed by Ong Kuo Sin, “Mr Unbelievable” sees Chen Tian Wen as Eric Kwek Hock Seng (yes, he has a name), who takes it upon himself to be the symbol of national pride in the music scene. As his business declines in popularity, Eric wants to spark new ideas by using English lyrics for familiar Chinese songs despite strong objections from those around him. Undeterred, he sets out on “an unbelievable musical journey” to fulfil his dreams, learning — and teaching — a few lessons along the way.

The film, which opens in cinemas here on December 3, also stars Liu Ling Ling, Marcus Chin, Jaime Teo and Tosh Zhang. — TODAY
