HONG KONG, Nov 4 — Speculation that Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi is expecting her first child reached fever pitch in September when news broke that she had flown to the United States to prepare for the birth.

Coy comments by close friends, including singer Wang Leehom, who attended the Big Bang concert in Los Angeles with Zhang, helped churn the rumour mill even more.

Now, it appears that the director of her latest movie “Oh My God” has confirmed what is arguably the Asian entertainment scene’s worst-kept secret.

At a recent press conference in Beijing for the film, Wei Nan revealed, “Actually, we don’t know exactly when she got pregnant. And it’s not just her! Half the cast in the film are pregnant!”

He then joked, “The film title is ‘Oh My God,’ and whoever joins the team gets pregnant!”

With the cat out of the bag, it remains to be seen whether Zhang and her fiance Wang Feng will confirm the pregnancy.

Tabloids estimate that the 36-year-old actress’ due date should be in late December or early January.
